Realise
Your Dream Finals
Wednesday 20th September
Sydney
Opera House
Jasper
Cook was one of only two Western Australians to be shortlisted
for the British
Council Australia's "Realise
Your Dream" Award in 2006.
Over
800 people applied, and Jasper was one of the dozen finalists.
Six got chosen to 'Realise Their Dream' and work with
a leader in their field in the UK.
The
standard was amazing. We had an informal show n'tell in
our hotel room so that all the participants could show
each other their work and we were just blown away by the
standard of the talent.
The
winners, an All-Girl lineup!
- Genevieve
Bailey (Melbourne) has already directed about
25 award-winning short films, documentaries and music
videos. She's currently working on a project with 11yo's
around the world inspired by the 7 Up series. She doesn't
wait around for the AFC to fund one precious script,
she just gets out there and does it. Destined to be
one of Australia's great writer-directors. See also

All
of the Finalists are worth keeping your eye out for. They'll
all be leaders in their fields, if they're not already.
We're so happy to have had the chance to meet them all.
Of
course, I reckon Jas should have won, but then perhaps
I'm biased ;) Ah well, he's still eligible next year (under
26 as at June 2007) so will apply again.
The
ad campaign for the competition by Saatchi called "Whinging
Poms" was hilarious. You can watch
the videos online.
Thanks
to the wonderful sponsors of RYD, especially the Sir
Stamford Hotel. We were very happy with the Hotel
in every way, and look forward to staying there again.
